Hello everyone, and welcome to the first edition of the Valence SMP Weekly Roundup! To provide context, we’ll be giving a rundown on both major story events and meta happenings for those who may have missed them. For future weeks, if there’s something you’d like to be included please submit it to me via DMs!

Meta

First thing’s first – Rules, policies, and expectations. As we grow as a server, there’s going to be a lot of moments where we’re learning from each other. As the nuance of these situations fleshes out, we’re going to continue clarifying things so it’s incredibly clear what you can expect from us, and every other player son the server. We appreciate all of you going through these growing pains together, and I can’t wait to see what systems we’re able to implement moving forward.

Now to the fun part! Our marketing team has been hard at work putting together content to bring some new faces to the server, and when brainstorming how we’ll best exemplify the culture of the server we thought “what better way of showing off the kickass community we have other than giving them the opportunity to show off their favorite moments?”. We’d love if you could send us clips of your triumphs and tribulations on the server so far! If you have anything cool to send our way, please share it with smp.valence@gmail.com on Google Drive!

And sneaking a peak on our backend work, we’re getting custom mobs primed for your overworld and dungeon dwelling experience. The intention of these new mobs is to bring unique opportunities to combat, not to kill @wade (Charles Barker) several times, so as we begin rolling these out, if you have any problems or suggestions for how they operate please send them to me via DM!

Finally, the entire staff team has been fired and replaced by super-intelligent gophers.

In-World

Now for the meat! We’ve had some awesome events pop up this week! From weddings to wars, there’s never a dull moment on the continent. Here’s some of our favorite moments:

The marriage of Bill and JJ! I had the wonderous opportunity of officiating the newlyweds, and I dare say the wedding was a grand success (other than the mayor declaring the gathering an unlawful assembly, of course). Thank you for everyone who dropped by and thank you even more to those who provided gifts!

Danias of Mhede has returned to the land, bringing dreadful news of the curse. Where he answers why we seem to be immortal in this land, further questions are brought forth. Who is doing this to us, and to what purpose? This curse matter is growing out of hand, hopefully Arimaex knows how we’ll get through this..

A shadow drenched in gold jewelry has made its presence known, promising fortune to some and misery to others – all you must do is roll the dice. Have you encountered the Gambler and his peons yet? There may be riches in the encounter if lady luck is on your side.

Princess Aurora of Stone Bay has made her return! After years away, she suddenly showed up to a committee meeting this week – in Farquad of all places. The sudden arrival of a member of the royal family in Stone Bay shakes things up at the best of times, but now? After the family has been gone so long? It’s strange, to say the least.

And finally, and most importantly, Wendy’s is officially opening this weekend! We are looking forward to your patronage, and we can’t wait to serve you Vegan Baconators once again!

Oh, and of course the Lord Mayor declared war on the Undead, business as usual I suppose…
